Every child progresses differently. Grade and level labels help organize resources, but children may work at different levels across subjects. A child might use Kindergarten Reading and 1st Grade Math—and that's perfectly normal. Our curriculum architecture will eventually support this flexibility.

Curriculum vs. Worksheets

Curriculum

A planned sequence showing:

  • • What to teach
  • • When to teach it
  • • How concepts build
  • • Lessons, practice, and review

Worksheets

Practice a specific concept.

A pile of worksheets is not automatically a complete curriculum. Little Lights helps connect worksheets to actual teaching and learning goals.

How to Choose Curriculum Without Getting Overwhelmed

Ask yourself these questions when considering any curriculum:

1Is it appropriate for my child's current level?
2Can I understand how to teach it?
3Does it fit our schedule?
4Does it require expensive materials?
5Does my child get enough practice?
6Does it include review?
7Can I adjust the pace?
8Does it fit our family's educational goals?

Start Simple

You do not need to purchase every workbook, subscription, manipulative, and program before your first homeschool day. Start with essentials and add more as you discover what works for your family.
